About Me
Hi! I’m Jess, the founder, creator, and editor of Scoliosis Diaries. I am a 19-year-old college student, born and raised in Southern California. Growing up I loved dancing, making silly videos, and enjoyed keeping myself busy. I’ve always had a big heart for others and love to help people in any way I can. When I was 11 years old I found out I had scoliosis, a sideways curvature of the spine. Although I wore a back brace to prevent the curves in my spine from getting worse, my scoliosis worsened to 64 degrees, two curves and became severe scoliosis. I had spinal fusion surgery when I was 15 years old and created Youtube videos to document my recovery which ended up helping thousands of people around the world. Now, I am almost five years post scoliosis surgery, and I am a patient mentor at CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange County, California. It feels great to help patients undergoing spinal fusion at the same hospital I had mine, and seeing how sharing my story can help others so much. I hope you enjoy my blog about my scoliosis journey and my life now that I am fully recovered.
